Base Game

Standard play before any Free Spins mode triggers. Tombstone's base game runs across 108 Ways on the 5×3 grid where wins pay left-to-right on adjacent reels regardless of row position. Most base value comes from xNudge Wild events on reels 2, 3, and 4.

Bonus Buy

Skip the base game and jump straight into a Free Spins mode. Tombstone offers three buy tiers: Justice Spins (~50x stake), Gunslinger Spins (~200x), Bounty Spins (~888x). RTP holds at 96.19% across all entry methods. UK and Netherlands block Bonus Buy by regulation.

Bounty Spins

Tombstone's top free spins mode. Triggered by Sheriff scatter on reel 1, Marshall scatter on reel 5, AND three matching badge scatters in the same spin. Awards 12 spins combining Justice's sticky xNudge Wilds with Gunslinger's unlimited progressive multiplier. The only natural path to the 11,456x peak.

Cascading Reels (Tumble)

Tombstone doesn't use cascades. Wins resolve once per spin via 108 ways. The replay mechanism comes from xNudge sliding wilds into full-reel position rather than removing winning symbols and dropping new ones. Cascades aren't part of the Tombstone math model.

Dead Spin

A spin returning nothing. Tombstone's high volatility produces dead spins around 70-75% of base spins. The math model concentrates payouts into rare xNudge events and Free Spins triggers, so empty stretches between meaningful wins are normal.

Feature Trigger Rate

How often each Free Spins mode activates. Justice triggers ~1 in 180 base spins, Gunslinger ~1 in 380, Bounty ~1 in 4,000. The combined feature density across all three paths means a Free Spins event of some kind hits roughly every 110-130 base spins on average.

Free Spins

Bonus rounds where you don't pay the stake. Tombstone offers three distinct modes: Justice Spins (3 spins, sticky wilds), Gunslinger Spins (10 spins, climbing global multiplier), Bounty Spins (12 spins, both mechanics). Each mode plays differently and produces different payout distributions.

Global Multiplier

Tombstone's Gunslinger and Bounty Spins mechanic. Starts at x1, climbs +1 per paying spin, never resets during the round. By spin 7-8 it routinely sits at x6-x8. Combined with stacked xNudge Wild lines, late-round spins can produce x15-x20 effective multipliers.

Gunslinger Spins

Tombstone's mid-tier free spins mode. Triggered by 3 matching badge scatters. Awards 10 spins with a global win multiplier that climbs by +1 after every paying spin and never resets. Wilds are not sticky in this mode. Average return ~80-120x stake; top end ~3,500x.

Hit Frequency

How often a paying combination forms. Tombstone's base hit rate sits around 25-30% — about 1 in 4 spins pays something. Below average for ways slots because the math model concentrates value into xNudge events and Free Spins rather than spreading it across base hits.

Justice Spins

Tombstone's entry tier free spins mode. Triggered by Sheriff badge scatter on reel 1 plus Marshall badge scatter on reel 5. Awards 3 spins where every Outlaw Wild that lands sticks for the rest of the round. Short but dense — by spin 3, middle reels can be plastered with multiplier wilds.

Max Win

The absolute ceiling per round. Tombstone caps at 11,456x — modest by Nolimit City standards but reachable through Bounty Spins with sticky high-multiplier wilds and a climbing global multiplier. Cap-event probability sits well under 1 in 1,000,000 Bounty triggers.

Megaways

A Big Time Gaming licensed mechanic with up to 117,649 ways. Tombstone doesn't use Megaways — uses 108 Ways on a 5×3 grid. Nolimit City has Megaways-licensed titles in their catalog but Tombstone uses the simpler 108-ways format that fits the xNudge mechanic.

Multiplier

A value that multiplies a payout. Tombstone layers two multiplier types: xNudge wild multipliers (start x1, +1 per nudge, multiply together on shared lines) and Gunslinger/Bounty global multiplier (starts x1, +1 per paying spin, no cap). Triple xNudge x3 wilds combined with x6 global = x162 on that line.

Nolimit City Provider Catalog

Nolimit City is a Stockholm-based studio acquired by Evolution in 2022. Tombstone (May 2019) is the original xNudge title that defined the mechanic for every release that followed. GLI certification covers all titles. Distribution skews Northern Europe, regulated EU markets, and select Asian operators.

Outlaw Wild

Tombstone's wild symbol. Stands 3 rows tall and appears only on reels 2, 3, and 4. When one lands partially in view, xNudge slides it into full-reel position automatically. Substitutes for all paying symbols (no scatters or badges). Each nudge step adds +1 to the wild's multiplier.

Paylines

Tombstone uses 108 Ways rather than fixed paylines. Symbols pay left-to-right starting from reel 1 on adjacent reels regardless of row position. The 108-ways math means each adjacent-reel landing of matching symbols pays once — no per-row counting like 1024-ways or megaways.

Paytable

Reference chart for symbol payouts. Access through the in-game info menu. Tombstone's premium symbols (Outlaw character art) pay the most across the 108 ways. Mid-tier covers Western-themed icons (gun, hat, badge). Card royals (A/K/Q/J/10) fill the bottom. The Outlaw Wild substitutes for all paying symbols.

Retrigger Mechanic

Tombstone's Free Spins extension. Justice Spins and Gunslinger Spins can retrigger via additional scatter combos for +3 spins each. Bounty Spins cannot be retriggered — once 12 spins finish, the round closes regardless of new scatter landings.

RNG (Random Number Generator)

The certified algorithm determining every spin outcome. Nolimit City uses GLI-tested RNGs — independently audited for fairness in regulated markets. Each spin in Tombstone is independent of the last; previous xNudge multipliers or scatter counts have zero predictive value for future spins.

RTP (Return to Player)

The theoretical percentage of wagered money the slot returns over millions of spins. Tombstone runs at 96.19% on the standard configuration. Some operators may run lower variants (94-96% common) — verify in the game info screen before spinning. RTP holds identical across all Bonus Buy tiers.

Scatter

A symbol that triggers features regardless of payline position. Tombstone uses three scatter types: Sheriff badge (reel 1 only), Marshall badge (reel 5 only), and matching badge scatters (any reel). Combinations of these scatters trigger the three different Free Spins modes — no overlap on triggers.

Session Variance

The gap between actual results and theoretical RTP. Tombstone has 96.19% RTP, but a 200-spin session can range from 20% to 300% of wager. High volatility means session swings are wide — most sessions land below RTP, with rare Bounty Spins providing the variance correction.

Sheriff Badge

Tombstone's reel-1 scatter. Combined with the Marshall badge on reel 5, triggers Justice Spins. Cannot trigger Gunslinger or Bounty alone — those require matching scatters or all four trigger conditions together. Position-locked to reel 1 by design.

Stake

Your bet per spin. Tombstone ranges from $0.10 to $100. The stake applies uniformly across all 108 ways. All payout values (xNudge multipliers, Free Spins averages, max win) are quoted as multiples of stake.

Sticky Wild

Tombstone's Justice Spins and Bounty Spins mechanic. Once an Outlaw Wild lands during these modes, it stays in place for the remainder of the round. xNudge still fires on partial wilds, so multipliers can grow on already-sticky positions. Gunslinger Spins do NOT have sticky wilds.

Tombstone Original Release

Tombstone launched in May 2019 as Nolimit City's first xNudge slot. The mechanic became a studio signature, appearing in titles like San Quentin xWays, Mental, Outsourced Reaper. The original Tombstone math has been preserved across re-releases — 96.19% RTP, 11,456x cap, three free spins modes.

Volatility (Variance)

How payouts are distributed. Tombstone is rated High — long stretches between meaningful wins, then concentrated bursts during xNudge or Free Spins events. The math model trades hit frequency for cap density, so bankroll should expect deep dips between feature triggers.

Ways to Win

Tombstone's payout structure. 108 ways means each adjacent-reel landing of matching symbols on consecutive reels (1-2-3, 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4-5) pays once regardless of row position. Different from fixed paylines (which require specific line patterns) and different from megaways (which dynamically vary symbol counts per reel).

Wild

A symbol that substitutes for any regular symbol to complete combinations. Tombstone's Outlaw Wild substitutes for all paying symbols (not scatters or badges). Multipliers stack across paylines — a x2 wild on reel 2 + x3 wild on reel 4 sharing a payline pay x6 on that line. Different from compound multiplier slots where wilds add rather than multiply.

Win Distribution

How total payouts spread across categories. Tombstone's high-volatility split: Bounty Spins ~30% of total RTP, Gunslinger Spins ~25%, Justice Spins ~15%, base-game xNudge events ~25%, standard line wins ~5%. The distribution is heavily back-loaded toward Free Spins modes.

xNudge Wild

Tombstone's headline mechanic and Nolimit City's signature wild type. When an Outlaw Wild lands partially visible on reels 2-4, xNudge slides it up or down until the full 3-row wild fits the reel. Each nudge step adds +1 to the wild's multiplier. Single-nudge wilds become x2; double-nudge wilds x3; etc.

xNudge Multiplier Stacking

Tombstone's payline math. Multiple xNudge Wilds on the same payline multiply together rather than add. A x3 wild on reel 2 + x3 wild on reel 4 sharing a line = x9 on that payout. Three middle-reel wilds at x3 each = x27 on that payline. This compounding is the engine of every win above 50x.

Bonus Buy Restrictions

Some jurisdictions block bonus purchases entirely. UK has prohibited buy features since October 2021. Netherlands and a handful of other markets also block them. Tombstone's three buy tiers are unavailable in those markets — only natural triggers work for affected players.

5×3 Grid with 108 Ways

Tombstone's grid format. 5 reels × 3 rows = 15 cells. Pays through 108 ways rather than fixed paylines. The compact grid keeps the xNudge mechanic clean — 3-row wilds on reels 2, 3, and 4 fit perfectly in a 5×3 layout. Larger grids would require taller wild symbols and more complex nudge geometry.
